Fire Pits
Safety
Suitable for outdoor use only. NEVER use the fire pit indoors or in an enclosed area. Smoke and fumes from a fire can be harmful to humans and animals without proper ventilation.
Always check and follow your local authorities’ rules and regulations regarding the use of fire pits. Check whether your property is within a smoke control area zone before use.
Do not use in windy conditions.
Choose a safe position for the fire pit. Be aware of how the smoke from the fire pit may affect your neighbours, roads, cyclists and pedestrians.
Do not place the fire pit on decking or other flammable surfaces.
Place on even, flat ground, e.g. concrete, gravel or hardstanding. Avoid placing on grass or patio as the heat from the fire pit in use may scorch grass or crack patio slabs. If you’d like to use the fire pit on a patio we recommend the use of an additional slab to provide extra protection.
Make sure that the fire pit is placed well away from trees and low hanging branches.
Do not position the fire pit near fences, hedges, vehicles, or buildings, as sparks could start an unwanted fire.
Use a fire screen for extra protection if necessary.
Always use the accompanying tray to collect ash beneath the fire pit. DO NOT USE without this tray, as this could cause damage to your garden.
Ensure any seating or garden furniture near the fire pit is not flammable.
Make sure any surrounding furniture is placed a safe distance from the fire pit.
Keep a first aid kit nearby for any accidental burns.
Keep a bucket of water or sand nearby for emergency use.
The fire pit can get very hot, including the metal handles. Always use heat resistant gloves when handling.
This fire pit is suitable for use with natural firewood or commercial logs ONLY. We recommend using seasoned or kiln dried wood for best results and to reduce smoke. Do not burn coal, garden/household waste, scrap timber, or other materials.
Never use petrol, alcohol or other flammable liquids to start a fire.
Do not pile wood too high. Keeping the fire small and under control is the safest way to enjoy using the fire pit.
When using the fire pit use the same precautions as you would with any open fire.
Never leave the fire pit unattended when lit. Always keep the fire pit out of reach of children and pets.
Always use appropriate fire tools such as long arm tongs or a poker to move burning wood in the fire pit.
Make sure to extinguish the fire pit safely.
Never put hot ashes in a bag or bin, leave ashes on the tray to cool completely before disposing of the cold ashes safely.
Fire pits can stay hot for a long time after use, make sure that the fire pit and tray are completely cold before moving or handling.
